RTS Sindbad BITIC – (Managed by RAK Training Ship Sindbad a non-profit organization under the license of Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority, RAK , UAE) is the legendry Training Ship from Norway fully equipped as a Maritime Mobile Training School.

  1. The history starts from 1962 when the ship was leased by the State of Norway for Maritime courses. In 1979, gifted to Østfold Maritime Skole (School) and renamed Østfold.
  2. Now called RTS Sindbad after the great sailor adventurer Sindbad. Benfey also derives the name "Sindbad" from the Sanskrit "Siddhapati"=lord of sages) ……. wikipedia.
  3. In the year 2003, the Concept of RTS Sindbad was initiated by the Ship-owner and Entrepreneur Mr. Mohamed Lodhi & Capt. Ajay Kotwal.
  4. In 2007, RTS Sindbad was institutionalized as a separate entity Rak Training Ship Sindbad under the independent command of CEO Capt. Ajay Kotwal.
  5. In order to bring in the "best quality" and "high spirit of performance" in maritime professionals, Rak Training ship Sindbad has synergized with Birla Institute of Techonology (Ranchi) in 2008. The training Ship has been approved as a mobile - International Center for BIT (Ranchi).  A Governing Council of Maritime Industry's Professionals and Birla Institute of Techonology (Ranchi) Leading Educators  guide the governance policies of RTS Sindbad's objectives for preparing students to :

-Exhibit high levels of integrity in their moral and ethical conduct
-Focus on results
-Build on strengths- own and others
-lead beyond borders, serving the common good
RTS Sindbad BITIC's Mission to lead stakeholders, no matter where they stand, towards   A GREATER ROLE .... in their lives encompasses the above objectives. The results have been evident from the testimonials received from the various shipping companies and many projects underway for the common good of the world.

    • In 2006 – Sailor Today- India's premier seafarer's magazine awarded RTS Sindbad – Innovation in Maritime Training Award.
    • In 2007 – Lloyd's List – London; World's premier Maritime news paper nominated RTS Sindbad for the finals for the – Maritime Training award.

Birla Institute of Technology (Ranchi) has been accredited by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) & the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) established by the UGC & AICTE respectively. The Birla Institute of Technology was established in the year 1955 at Mesra, Ranchi, by the Philanthropist-Industrialist Mr. B M Birla with a vision to be recognized as a world-class learning institution for engineering and technology by providing the highest-quality academic programmes that foster student development and connect knowledge, practice, and outstanding scholarly research.
Over the last fifty years, the Institute has not just kept pace with the times; it has often taken a lead in introduction of programs in emerging areas.

In 2009 BIT (Ranchi) and RTS SINDBAD came together to create a synergy in areas of Maritime Studies and Ship Management for the common good of the World.
