Enrollment Procedure

Eligibility for COC 2nd Mates/Degree Course

 

Age
Above 17 yrs

 

10+2 examination marks
All applicants are first ranked based on their Aggregate and PCM marks in the 10+2 examination and emphasis is given on the 10th marks also as mainly mathematics marks are most important.

Commerce / Arts / Other streams students can join course with additional subjects of NZMS modules of Science and Mathematics and have to pass the subjects before COC prep course.

Medical Examination
Medical practitioners appointed by the Institute will examine all selected candidates for certifying conformation with the medical requirements laid down by the administrations.

 

Psychometric Test
Conducted by the certified psychologist to determine the mental profile of the candidate to determine the suitability of the candidate for the profession in the merchant navy.

 

Selection Process

 

A successful career in merchant navy requires more than just a strong academic foundation. We will test you on each of the below parameters.

 

Aptitude Test
Aptitude test will base on 10+2 subjects and general knowledge.

 

Personal Interview
Applicants are interviewed by a panel of educators and maritime professionals to assess the applicants' communication skills, leadership potential, clarity of thought, maturity and reasoning abilities. The panel also looks for any extracurricular achievements of the candidate.

 

A candidate must understand the fact that he has to clear all the stages above to get his seat confirmed, however final decision from the head office still overrides everything.
