RTS Sindbad– is the legendry Training Ship once belonged to Østfold Maritime Skole, Norway. She is a fully equipped as a Maritime Mobile Training School and is now located in Indian Ocean / Arabian Gulf under the management of RAK Training Ship Sindbad.HISTORY:

RAK TRAINING SHIP SINDBAD (RTSS) true to its mission will lead you to a greater role in your life. No matter where you stand, RTSS will inspire goals in your life that you would have not thought achievable before. “Sindbad” captivates the spirit of the dashing dare devil adventure seeker- Sindbad the sailor. Embarking on journey aboard the RTSS is a quest for lifelong learning and understanding the new horizons, other countries, their people and cultures. This understanding will usher you into realm of creativity, high performance, personal success, and will change your life forever turning you into a Global Citizen.

  • The history starts from 1962 when the ship was leased by the State of Norway for Maritime courses. In 1979, gifted to Østfold Maritime Skole (School) and renamed Østfold.
  • Now called RTS Sindbad after the great sailor adventurer Sindbad. Benfey also derives the name \"Sindbad\" from the Sanskrit \"Siddhapati\"=lord of sages) ……. wikipedia.
  • In the year 2003, the Concept of RTS Sindbad was initiated by the philanthropist  and Entrepreneur Mr. Mohamed Lodhi & Capt. Ajay Kotwal.
  • In 2005, the first batch of deck cadets commenced the training onboard. 
  • In 2007, RTS Sindbad was institutionalized as a separate entity Rak Training Ship Sindbad under the independent command of CEO Capt. Ajay Kotwal.
  • In 2008 , in order to bring in the \"best quality learning\" and \"high spirit of performance\" in maritime professionals. A Governing Council of Maritime Industry\'s Professionals, Leading Educators  guide the governance policies of RTS Sindbad\'s objectives for preparing students to :
  1. Exhibit high levels of integrity in their moral and ethical conduct
  2. Focus on results
  3. Build on strengths- own and others
  4. lead beyond borders, serving the common good

The results that the objectives are being achieved is evident from the testimonials/awards and many projects underway for the common good of the world.

  1. In 2006 – Sailor Today- India\'s premier seafarer\'s magazine awarded RTS Sindbad – Innovation in Maritime Training Award.
  2. In 2007 – Lloyd\'s List – London; World\'s premier Maritime news paper nominated RTS Sindbad for the finals for the – Maritime Training award.
